An Update on Mr. Caterpillar

Actually, the kids are convinced it's a girl caterpillar, so it's name is Odette. We also have another green caterpillar named Rose, and a cricket named Smokey the Bear. Chandler named the cricket; Marissa named the caterpillars.

Both of the caterpillars are in jars inside cacoons. I don't know how long they take to come out--I hope not all winter. We'll see if they can survive. I'll keep you updated.

It was interesting to see Odette make her cacoon. She started spinning a white web thing, then she shed all of her black fuzz, and added it to the cacoon. So, you can see her turning around, and she's just a black, hairless, fat wormlike thing. Interesting.
